Why Choose Tiki Cat® Veterinary Solutions™?

Why Choose Tiki Cat® Veterinary Solutions™?

In the feline, veterinary diet space, there’s a lack of variety and options when trying to manage diet-responsive diseases in cats. Tiki Cat® Veterinary Solutions™ is solely cat-focused, making it easier to find highly palatable, “prey-inspired”, clinically proven diets for the most common feline diseases that cat parents struggle to resolve. In addition to our wet-exclusive line being high protein, high moisture, moderate fat, and low-carb, here’s what else to know about us:

1. Clinically Tested with Proven Results!

All the diet categories (GI-Health™, pH-Balance™, Gluco-Balance™, and Lo-Cal™) have AAFCO feeding as well as clinical trials behind them to ensure superior palatability and clinically proven diet options for the most common feline diseases.

2. Variety of Palatable Flavors and Textures

Each diet category has 3 different textures (shreds, flaked, or pâté) and two protein options, chicken or 100% fish.  And we’re the only feline, wet, veterinary diet line to offer a 100% fish option – which is great for chicken intolerant cats! All diets are 100% palatability guaranteed.

3. Trial Packs Always Available – for ALL diets!

In order to find the best choice for your picky, feline patients we produce 3-count trial packs for each diet category that contain one of each texture.  This allows a pet owner no risk and the feline patient to try our diets at home in a relaxed environment.

4. We’re a Fear Free™ Preferred Partner

If your clinic practices Fear Free™ techniques during exams and procedures, then you may want to consider our Mousse Stix™.  At only 5 calories and half the size of other commercial tube treats, we offer a perfectly portioned treat for use during exams or as an appetite stimulant. Check out the Fear Free™ preferred partner page for details on discounts.

4. Multiple Platforms to Purchase

You can purchase Tiki Cat® Veterinary Solutions™ through MWI, Covetrus, and Chewy, and in Canada (AVP, WDDC & VP).

4. AND a Recognizable Brand That Cat Owners Love

Tiki Cat® has been a beloved cat food brand for over 20 years, providing dozens of palatable options for the obligate carnivore. Tiki Cat® is one of the fastest-growing brands in pet specialty stores with a reputation for introducing meaningful and differentiated innovations, making it the ultimate destination for cat owners. The brand has prioritized quality, simple ingredients with maximum nutritional value, and a shorter ingredient deck. So, when they need to move to a veterinary diet, Tiki Cat® Veterinary Solutions™ provides them with quality in a name they trust.

Effective Diets for Feline Chronic Enteropathies.

An example of the clinical effectiveness of the GI-Health™ diet line was demonstrated in a study of two groups of client-owned cats. Group 1 included cats that were diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and had previously failed a diet trial on competitor products. Group 2 were newly diagnosed cats with IBD and placed on a competitor’s hydrolyzed canned diet. Upon 60-day evaluation, both groups had improved fecal and FCEAI scores, but only the group eating the Tiki Cat® Veterinary Solutions™ GI-Health™ diets had cats reach complete clinical remission of clinical signs. Upon fecal microbiota evaluation, beta-diversity was greater in the cats eating the Tiki Cat® Veterinary Solutions™ GI-Health™ diets compared to Group 2 cats. Tiki Cat® Veterinary Solutions™ GI-Health™ was able to induce remission of clinical signs, improve oxidative balance and modulate intestinal microbiota in all enrolled feline patients, which previously had failed to improve when fed a competitor hydrolyzed diet. Please find more details of this study and other diet studies in the product guide.

Cats Needing Highly Digestible Diets

There are many disease processes such as feline pancreatitis, hepatic disease, and gastrointestinal diseases where the cats may benefit from a highly digestible diet. Combining a highly digestible, simple ingredient diet with high palatability is the perfect balance for helping manage picky eaters.

3 Tips to Getting Picky Cats to Eat

Tailoring Your Approach: The Importance of Diet History

To effectively address feeding issues, it's crucial to obtain a comprehensive diet history from the pet owner. This should include:

  • Diet format (dry, canned, or both)
  • Brand preferences
  • Specific product lines or flavors
  • Texture preferences (e.g., shreds, pâté, chunks in gravy)
  • Protein source preferences (e.g., chicken, fish, beef)

While cats may sometimes surprise us with their willingness to try new foods, this detailed history provides an invaluable starting point for dietary recommendations and troubleshooting.

Creating the Ideal Feeding Environment

Cats are highly sensitive to their environment when it comes to eating. This is important at home and particularly important in clinical settings:

  • Provide a calm, safe space for feeding, ideally away from high-traffic areas.
  • Offer a hiding place at the back of the kennel to create a sense of security.
  • Arrange the kennel thoughtfully:
    • Place food and water near the hiding spot at the back of the kennel.
    • Position the litter box at the front of the kennel away from the food.
    • Consider covering part of the kennel with a towel or blanket to reduce stressful stimuli.
    • Whenever possible, use the cat's familiar food and dishes from home to increase comfort.

Introducing New Diets: Timing is Everything

When introducing a new diet, especially for medical reasons, timing and location are crucial:

  • Avoid introducing new foods in unfamiliar or stressful environments like veterinary clinics, especially if it’s a diet that you would like the cat to eat long-term at home.
  • In the clinic, take the diet history and offer a diet likely to be highly palatable to the individual cat, maybe even their diet from home. Offer one food at a time. The “buffet” approach is not always helpful to a cat.
  • Instruct owners to offer new diets at home, when the cat feels safe and secure. Even if it’s a day or so after they get home.
  • Emphasize the importance of patience and persistence to pet owners, as some cats may take days or even weeks to accept a new food.

Hear What Veterinarians Are Saying

Veterinary professionals across the US and Canada are already seeing the benefits of Tiki Cat® Veterinary Solutions™.

Dr. Adrienne Pinks of All Creature Features Animal Hospital shared that “Tiki Cat GI has saved my life. My 7-year-old DSH, Jag, started vomiting daily about two years ago. After a full medical work up with no real diagnosis…we figured that must have a food allergy. I tried every single prescription diet on the market from ZD to Ultamino. He did OK on both diets for a couple of weeks then started vomiting again. I was at a loss. I did not want to have to pill him with Cerenia daily or risk his kidneys on a steroid. I learned about Tiki Cat Veterinary Solutions at the Vegas conference and thought I would try it. When Jag not only kept it down, but LOVED it, I was ecstatic. He has solely been on the tuna and sea bass for over a year, and I could not be happier! Thank you, Tiki Cat, for saving my best friend!”

Other veterinary professionals have continued to share their feedback.

“I’m so glad that Tiki has a fish only GI diet!  My cat cannot tolerate any poultry, and this is the only wet diet that doesn’t make him throw up!”

“My cat is very picky and does not like really any wet food.  I took home samples of your GI diets from VMX last year, and it is the only wet food he will eat!”

“My clinic works with a shelter, and we get cats that are not eating due to stress and also have loose stools. The Tiki GI is almost always that one thing that gets them eating again, and also helps to improve their stool quality”
